Research Tool Licensing

When a company has a licensing agreement for research tools with a university or public research institution, there are two kinds of licenses: exclusive licenses to market patented products and non-exclusive licenses for research objectives.

Non-exclusive licenses for research tools are clearly endorsed in guidelines issued by the U.S. National Institutes of Health in 1999.
